Hotel Information: Part of the 15,000-acre Punta Cana residential, golf, marina, and resort development whose name became synonymous with the Dominican Republic's entire easternmost coast, this resort offers casual holidays for families, couples, and singles. Energetic staff members are everywhere, transporting toddlers to meals in multi-seat strollers, dancing with guests, and making everyone feel welcome.
Amenity highlights: A freeform pool with a shallow end for children measures 130m (425 ft). An offshore reef ensures the Caribbean Sea remains calm in most weather off the beach. The resort supplies nonmotorized water-sports equipment. Featuring a freeform pool divided into two sections of different depths and a toddlers' pool, a children's compound contains clubhouses for age groups of 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-10, and 11-13. Teens have their own adults-free clubhouse.
Insider tip: Designed by P. B. Dye, the 18-hole La Cana Golf Course 3 km (1.75 mi) away features 12 ocean-view holes, including four played across the Caribbean Sea, and a par-5 finishing hole patterned after the 18th at Pebble Beach in California.

The resort offers 543 guestrooms with furnished balconies or ground-floor terraces in 26 brightly colored, two- and three-story buildings (no elevators). Televisions with U.S./European cable channels and CD players provide entertainment. (DVD players and VCRs can be rented.) Decor includes dark-wood furniture and trim, terra-cotta tile floors, pastel walls, and blue-and-white striped fabrics. Small bathrooms contain stall showers (no tubs).
